Came home to a living room with erupted tiles after a short trip to the bank. It appeared as if an earthquake had occurred and 50% of our tiles popped out! Quite awesome actually. I was initially really amused and found it darn hilarious. The tiles would shriek whenever I stepped on it. (Guess the weight didn't help either) LOL, after some calls and waiting, we managed to get an officer who came by to check out the tiles and announced that we will be getting replacement tiles for the whole living room! Cool~
We were really convinced that the floor was going to collapse and refused to move beyond the comforts of the kitchen. (Didn't want the ceiling to go crashing on our downstairs neighbour!) However, the HDB contractor came and exclaimed that it was a small matter. Erm, didn't appear that small to us. To convince us, he started jumping on several of the tiles, commenting that it was fine. (Well, he kinda broke a couple of tiles in the process!)
While it was pretty scary, it was sorta of a blessing in disguise, cos, WE ARE GETTING NEW TILES! Woohoo~ minus the hassle of shifting our furniture, taking leave and of cos, clearing up. Lucky or not?

Did you use a stick to hit the tiles after you received your flat? I was advised by our parents to do so for every tiles.... to make sure there is no hollow sound... if there is, the cement may not be laid properly or sufficiently, which means the tiles will pop up anytime according to our parents.... me and leehong had a sweaty time hitting every tiles (including those on the walls)... back pain for whole week manz.... :)
LOL.. funny, we never heard of it before. Thus, we were really stunned to see it even happen!
Lucky we didn't replace or do anything to the tiles on the floor. So, HDB will be taking full responsibility in replacing them! LOL.. quite a hassle tho...
